Really like the specs on this car save for the fuel economy... If they can squeeze 29mpg out of a 'vette V8, why not this car - it's not like it's _that_ much less slippery than the 'vette.
Plus, the Malibala styling on this is just gross. It needs the Holden body kit here in the US.

Because it weighs substantially more, and it uses an older engine design.
The Vette's LT engine has cylinder deactivation at highway speed. This does not.
Also, I could be 100% wrong, but I don't think this engine has DI either.

I thought I saw one yesterday...
Turned out to be one of these.

It sounds nice at least.

The weight impact on highway fuel economy is negligible. Vehicle mass is a primary influence on city FE, while aero, driveline drag, and low RPM BSFC influence hwy numbers.
It's embarrassing that they can't at least get 25mpg in the Chevy SS. 14/21 is ridiculous. It's clear that the old school performance oriented LS3 has poor BSFC.

I believe you are correct on both counts. DoD is on the L99 and 47lb injectors are not DI.

I like it and I don't. I like how it's basically a sleeper but I don't like how it looks way too much like an impala. It did sound great though under acceleration.

Of course it did.

'Vette much lighter. Also has an extra gear if manual.
